I did a search ideas of what to charge for cake balls. Cake balls are probably the most talked about topic. There were way too many to read through. Can anyone tell me a consensus of what should be charged for cake balls? Mine are from an Italian Creme cake so they have lots of pecans and coconut. Because they are already sweet (I used left over buttercream to hold them together) I will roll them in powdered sugar and deliver them in little white paper cups.

Thanks for the help.

I personally would charge about $15.00 per pound.

I am sure if JanH is around she could find you the price...she has amazing search skills..I looked around for you and couldn't find the price but if they go for $15/lb...get 2 plastic containers same size and put a block of butter in one and cake balls in the other till they "feel" the same weight.... icon_lol.gif

Invest in a scale, about $5-10 at Walmart for a small one for the kitchen. I've also heard about $1 each, sized with a small cookie scoop before dipping. Really, the scale would be better.

Part of the reason there is such a range of pricing is because there's also a big range in sizes. I like the idea of per pound pricing. If you use a mix, think about how much you would charge for a cake made from one mix and make sure that the price you charge for the total of all those cake balls comes to at least the price of a cake. But since they're a more specialized product you should be charging much more!

Thanks everyone for your help. The B&B and I decided on $35 for 75 of them. They got a bargain but it was left over scratch cake that didn't rise for a wedding cake so I was happy with the price. They put them in each guest's room with champagne for New Years.

Thanks Again!
