i havew a request for choco cake with white choc filling with buttercream (regular) icing.

the cake I use for chocolate is either the hersheys on the back of the can or the double layer one from epicurious, both of which are rich to me.

I need a recipe for the filling. Should I do a wc ganache or mousse type? HELP

How about melting some white chocolate and add it to you basic BC icing. I have done that and it is great. HTH>

Well, if the cake were for me, I would use either the white chocolate ganache or a white chocolate buttercream, which would be used to decorate the cake, also.

thank you guys.. I am not the chocolate cake fan so I wasn't sure if the ganache would be too much. they don't want white chocolate buttercream icing (specifically said vanilla icing, the SWEET kind) but I can make my BC and then mix some WC in for the filling portion

about the white chocolate - use a really good brand, callebaut, guittard, ghiraradelli, or valhrona. do not skimp, because you will only be using a couple of ounces. there are bars of these brands available now in most better supermarkets. It might cost 3-4 bucks, but it will definitely be worth it.
