Anyone else have the post-Christmas blues? I just hate the letdown after Christmas. Even if I got what I wanted, I still get so depressed! icon_cry.gif

I don't get depressed or anything but I like the build up to Christmas more than even Christmas Day.

I always look forward to January and February and make little changes in my decorating around the house. Add a houseplant or two.....Rearrange stuff to give the place a facelift.... Paint a wall or a room..... Invite friends over for dinner when I'm finished to show off my work! My kids tell me that I just live "for the next party". I must. And don't get me wrong...I'm not extravagent! It takes little $$$ to accomplish my perks! Hang in there....set some little achievable goals and get busy on them!

Nope. My family celebrates both Christmas's, the regular date, December 25, and the Orthodox date, January 7, so I still have lots of celebrating to do. Then there is the Orthodox New Year and Chinese New Year, which take us into Valentine's Day, Saint Patrick's Day, Easter, and the Summer holidays.

Yep ...I'm with you with all those! and even have made up some of my own...exactly 1/2 way into the "birthday" year we have an "unbirthday" everything we do is backwards..the "birthday person" makes the cake..or dessert or what ever..and buys the rest of the family small insignificant gifts..mostly gag presents..lol

and we have to wear silly birthday hats..sing silly song and do silly things....

Now that the kids are grown..I miss that most of all

I am the same way... icon_sad.gif
After all the Christmas lights have been turned off icon_cry.gif , christmas carols icon_cry.gif , and Christmas tree been stripped and thrown out icon_cry.gif , I feel like crawling into a cave and not come out until the next Christmas.

But I always tell myself, then I have something to look forward to !!!
I just pray that I am still alive to see the next Christmas to be with family and friends... That's ok, we can handle it.. icon_smile.gif

I more get the blues because of Christmas - missing the magical season of my youth. Age and knowledge - not to mention having the stuff in the stores since September - have definately taken the luster off for me.

I do enjoy the extra time spent with family and friends. To me that's the best part.

Phoov - I think your "tradition" is great!

I'm with you . . . this is the first year I've had the post-holiday blues. I know its because usually my boyfriend isn't much into holidays, so I volunteered to work graveyard on both Christmas Eve and Day . . . ugh. Leave it to him to get in the spirit this year for the first time ever!!! He helped me so much . . . baking, cooking, delivering gifts, wrapping gifts, shopping . . . we spent Christmas morning with my family and he was so happy and involved in everything . . . I feel like I completely missed out! Oh well . . . my mom keeps reminding me that he's like this all year long and I am a lucky girl . . . but I still can't help feeling like I ripped us off by working so much.

This is the very first year in 23 + years that I haven't been depressed before the holidays. So I am not depressed afterwards either. Don't know what I did different. Hope to remember soon. Cause it creeps up to soon for me. Or maybe not next year. Maybe I will get into the spirit again. Lots of luck coming out of the blues at this time of year. thumbs_up.gif

Yeah, I need something to look forward to. My boys are growing up so fast, I just want to slow it down! I also love the build up to Christmas more than anything, shopping & hiding stuff for surprises.

I also miss my dad the most this time of year, his b-day is in January. He died 5 yrs ago in September.

Thanks everyone!
