Please Help-Butter For Oil?

can i substitute butter for oil in a cake recipe?

if so, when it calls for 1/2 c of oil do i substitute with the same amount of butter? should i melt it also?

any help is so very appreciated! icon_smile.gif

I sub the same amt of melted butter, works fine for meicon_smile.gif

i had all my ingredients out and ready to go and realized i used every last drop of oil to fry up a batch of onion rings for dinner tonight. i wasn't thinking ahead.
