I am just about to put a cake together, its two 8 inch with 2 x 6inch on top. I come to find the only cake board I have is 4.5inch (to go in between the layers), will this matter? Or do I need to go out and try and find a 6inch? It will have flowers around the tier so I can hide any gaps. Oh and it will be iced in BC.

Any answers welcome. Shall Ill go warm up the car????

I'm afraid that the 4.5 inch board will be too small to support the 6 inch cake. I would go get a bigger board, but that's only my opinion.

Good luck!

Your other option is to use a larger board and cut it down, but, failing that option, make sure the car has plenty of gas!

If I'm stacking the cake I always use a smaller board and make sure that it is doweled well. So far, I've had no problems. But, if it is separated tiers....you need the bigger board!

Is the car warm yet? LOLL

This is fantastic, so many people just like me. Add Borders book store Cake Decorating Section to my list of places that have DH quaking in his boots. I received a few gift certificate for Borders at Christmas so DH will be quite happy when I go there next time. Of course he needn't know that I will probably spend more than the gift certificates. LOL.
