I just got a ton of candy molds, decorations and cookie/cake pans for Christmas in addition to what I already had...plus I'm know I'm getting a ton more for my birthday next month - how do you all store everything?

I'd like to keep all of my cookie sheets and such seperate from the everyday pans so they don't get messed up, but our apartment is VERY small and I'm starting to have to store thing in my tiny bedroom too. lol

Any suggestions?

Those large plastic drawers work well. If you have a closet with a large blank wall, what I did was put picture hangers up and hung up the character pans and any other pan that has a hanging hold in it (holes they use to hang them in the stores)

I have a peg board in my pantry! So all my character pans hang from that! Mine is too small for what I have but I made everything fit!

I've actually decided to stay away from odd shaped pans just for this reason! How in the heck do you store things that can't stack? I love some of those nordicware/williams sonoma bundt pans, but returned the pumpkin one. I decided to keep the snowflake mini bundt pans as I'm addicted to snowflakes and for the holidays it will make nice gifts, but other than that...I just can't rationalize the amount of space they take.

For storage of my tips and tools and cookie cutters, I took them out of the toolbox/chest and put the tips in the tip storage container and labeled each peg AND labeled the outside so I can see which is which, other things I put like with like in zip locks and then I bought 3 big baskets at Michaels on sale and I made a nice decorate display with a a fabric cover to hide the stuff and put it on top of my kitchen corner cabinet. One is for cookie cutters, one for tips and couplers, fondant tools and misc. tools, and one for food coloring gels. that's my biggest space saving tip and it looks nice too!

Most of my stuff is stored in plastic drawer units. These are great for storing candy molds upright. I have 6 drawers filled with candy molds. They are divided by theme by tabbed manila folders.

I have cake supplies in the kitchen, gameroom, bedroom, bedroom closet, garage, guest bedroom, guest closet, daughter-in-college's closet. icon_eek.gif

I finally took a picture of the closet wall I have with most of my shaped cake pans hanging from picture hangers or nails - now this does not include my pan sets, which are in a rolling cart on the floor, and a couple of other pans (like sports ball), that are on a shelf in their boxes........now, if I could just get somone to order from me! icon_cry.gif Guess I will just have to make these once a week, take to work and see what happens......at least I could get a picture of each one completed!

I have moved my supplies around at least 5 times. When I got legal and had my inspection, I had 2 shelves in my baking closet for pans, 1 shelf for ingredients, and one shelf for supplies. That lasted about a week before everything exploded off the shelves. Now I only have my standard shapes in the closet and have moved all my shaped pans. Over the summer, I went to a yard sale and got 200 candy molds for $2. So at the moment, I have a Rubbermaid closet in the laundry room full of shaped pans and a huge rubber bin full of molds. We'll see how long this lasts before I have to reorganize again.

Meggylou, I wish I were in Pa and found that deal-200 molds for $2-that's the cost of one new one! I'm still trying to get organized and I've been storing cake stuff since forever(@ least 12 yrs anyway)

Momlittr,
That looks great!

Unfortunately I have been downsized from a giagantic kitchen with storage to the WORLDS SMALLEST KITCHEN ever! Storage for me now is plastic totes - I keep my stuff in them with labels on the outside of what is in it. Not the best arrangement as I like to see my stuff, but the one that works for me now.

Oh boy you can bet your bottom dollar my kitchen beats yours in that category icon_smile.gif) I was just going to ask the same question and found this thread. I keep finding GREAT deals (not unlike the 200 molds for 2 bucks) at garage sales. I'm not even legal or remotely ready/skilled enough to make a business of this and every weekend or so I go garage saling and find stuff. I dont ALWAYS Go out with the intention of looking for cake stuff, but come on, who are we kidding icon_rolleyes.gif not like I'm going to go shopping for books for the kids and ignore 2 bins full of cookie cutters for 1.50 icon_smile.gif) .
So anyway, I have a tiny apartment, I could probably touch all four kitchen walls standing in the middle of the room. Same dilemna, as I buy pans gratuitously and havent used many of them yet (yeah lots of odd shaped ones lol). So it sounds like storage is an ongoing experimentation.

What I have figured for my colours/dust/tips/etc is a flat plastic tray container with lid and movable tiny separators that used to be my nail/screw/nuts/bolts storage box icon_smile.gif) (more important things to store in there now LOL)

thanks for the ideas!

Could any of you use the ceiling in any way?

Just a thought! icon_wink.gif

I don't know if they still have them, but Target has a rolling storage drawer set that each of the drawers is actually a 4 inch tall by 12 inch square plastic box! They stack ontop of each other too! I have 12 drawers totally and it has been a LIFESAVER.

Of course, we don't have a dining room anymore, cuz I have metal shelves lining all the walls and the dining table is my cake working space, not for eating.
