Happy holidays!

I've read many different ways people prepare their tins for the traditional rich fruit cake. Heard of double wax paper, brown paper, high collars, newspaper at the bottom and sides etc and would like to know what works best ( of course, everyone has their own likings). Does baking tin strips work for fruit cake?

Thanks so much!

i would use double layers of greaseproof paper, in other words, parchment paper. the tin is usually 3" if not 4" high. im not sure the baking strips on the outside would work, since the cake is baked for such a long time. they may dry out and brown, or worse catch fire, not likely but you never know being in the oven for several hours.

I double line with greasproof paper. As long as your oven thermostat is pretty accurate theres no need to put brown paper round. However if it's a bit dodgy do wrap the paper round the outside. Keep an eye on the cake while cooking. If it's getting a bit too brown put a piece of greasproof over the top with a small hole cut in the middle to let the steam escape
