We have never hired a babysitter. Grandma has always watched the kiddos. We have a very nice young lady next door who has offered to babysit. When I asked how much she charges she said" Whatever".
Can anyone tell me what the current rate is for babysitting. I have 3 kids ages 7, 5 and 3. Thanks sooooooo much! ~ Rhondie

Rhondie, we get a sitter for our 15 month old twin boys sometimes. She is my aunt's friend's daughter (20 years old). It depends on how much work the sitter will be doing. My boys go to bed at 8, so for the most part, she sits on the couch and does her thing unless there is a problem. We pay her $50 for a 6-8 hour night. If she was sitting while the boys were awake or we asked her to do baths or feed them, we would pay her more. Maybe you can ask the girl's parents what they think is fair. They may not want their daughter having too much money.

Good luck

Yes, asking the parents is a fine idea! Thanks.

When my kids were smaller (most grown, now), I paid $20 for the night and extra if we came back after midnight. I also provided pizza or other food for the night. With that arrangement, I never had a problem getting good sitters, either! thumbs_up.gif

My sitter charges a flat $10/hr, I have two boys ages 6 and 4. She works as a nanny and sits for me occasionally on weekends. She's in her early 20's and has a lot of experience with kids. Congrats on getting a sitter, it really is a big step, but you'll be glad you did.

We need to do that, find a sitter......we rely on the MIL too much and I hate it when she says yes to one thing and then turns around and says no to it and starts lecturing on stuff.....
hmmmmm, I think the neighbor girl is starting to get old enough now...must ask her
