to the bottom of the top tier? I made a Christmas cake yesterday that was two tiers stacked. I wrapped the board in press and seal, put powdered sugar on the top tier, dowelled, and placed the top cake on. DH said that when he took the top tier off to serve it, all of the icing from the bottom cake stuck to the bottom of the top board. I have a wedding in May, and don't want this to happen. Any tips?

If the powdered sugar didn't work you might try a thin layer of coconut that works as well.

or cut a circle of waxed paper and lay it directly on top of each cake...then you just remove the layers and peel back the waxed paper.

I do the waxed paper because some don't like coconut. But both work equally well. I think the ps works on a light top tier, say a 4in but not so well for really heavy or multistacks. Just my opinion though.

Thanks! I think I'll give the wax paper a shot next time!
