hello ladies. . .

This will be my first time working with fondant. I am making my 50th bday cake and will be attaching fleur di lis fondant (that I made in a candy mold) in addition to a few more goodies. What I want to know is how do I attach the fontant to the bc icing? Also, would you suggest I color the fontant or paint it? The diamond shapes I will be putting on the cake I am painting 14k gold.
The colors of her majasty's cake will be white, red, black and gold. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

I am not sure if I can help you much. The only fondant ackes I have done were for course 3. My package cake I applied the pieces with vanilla (fondant to fondant) But on my course 3 final I iced with BC and attached fondant roses with BC and toothpicks. I colored my fondant on that cake. Other than that is all that I know. Good luck thumbs_up.gif

Hiya deb, and welcome to c.c.
You shouldn't have any problem attaching your embellishments to your bc. Just take a good quality watercolorists paint brush (those nice round ones with the pointy ends) and brush water on the back or you can make some royal icing glue (the recipe is on the "wilton" site or here somewhere.) and use that to attach your goodies. It sounds like this cake is gonna be a knockout awesome cake.
Good Luck!!!!!

Deb
If you put the fondant on right after you've iced the cake with buttercream, it will stick right on, whithout the need to wet it or do anything to it. I do this all the time with my buttercream cakes.c
cheers
