Ok my Birthday is next Friday. My mom wants to buy me a cake. Ok that is nice. But wait, she wants me to make the cake and she will buy it from me for my Birthday. It may sound strange but she says that mine are so much better than what she could get at Sams Club or the supermarket.

But how he heck can I price this???

Have fun with it. Make a very elaborate cake that is not too costly for you to make and quote her a very elaborate price. Give her your best sales pitch when you are explaining the cost just as if she were a real client. After she looks at you as though you're crazy (like most customers do), give her the good old family discount of darn near free!!!

LOL Bush. The thing is my mom wouldn't look at me like I was crazy, she would pay it. Bless her heart she is disabled but she thinks everything I do is worth a million bucks.

If she insists on paying I think I may just let her make a donation to my birthday fund icon_smile.gif

I agree with bush1 - make yourself the cake of your dreams, have fun doing it then quote your mom the "real" price you would charge someone else. Then give her the price of the ingredents for her to pay. Part of her gift of the cake is she gave you a reason to make a special cake for yourself - I'd love that! You would never make something that special for yourself otherwise icon_wink.gif

Maybe just charge her "cost" to make it. Have fun make it a family affair invite her over to help you decorate it so that she has "say" in it icon_wink.gif and only charge her cost for supplies. Or give her the shopping list and send her on her way icon_wink.gif

I would love nothing more than for her to help me. She lives an hour away though. I am sure we will probably have dinner next Sat for my Birthday though. Our family tries to get together and go out for dinner together on all the Birthdays. Hoping I get to go to Hooters!
(I know that sounds weird to some but I love HOT WINGS!)

O h my goodness - if you are bringing the cake out to dinner with you (and I would!) I can just IMAGINE the cake you could make for yourself to bring to Hooters icon_lol.gif

Maybe she can drive out a little early and help you put on the finishing touches?

Happy Birthday!
