It's been a short time since I found this site. Talk about hooked. It started out getting information about cake decorating. What a pleasant suprise to find a family. You guys are great.

I was scared and insecure at first but now I'm comfortable and confident. I can't tell you how good it felt to have top noch decorators compliment me on my work. They know that I'm a housewife learning a passion. I'm not trying to get on a magazine cover. But, they make feel on clouds.

If any of you want coddling or want to whine I will read your post. Sometimes we need coddling or need to whine. Think of it instead the ya, ya sisterhood we're like the c c sisterhood/brotherhood. We give advice, tips, give you a pick up when you need it and listen to your grips and support you.

As one said if you don't like the post, change the channel.

There was a post that I responded to and I felt a member attacked me. What did I do? I just stop watching the post and moved on.

I do like debates but sometimes there are Trolls that just want to stir the pot. It's up to us to take the spoon away by not responding.

When you whine about what a bride/customer did to you, I don't see it as whinning, I have learned something. Maybe that will prevent the same thing from happening to me.

Everyday I learn several new things on this site. When I reply or comment on a cake I am not trying to earn points. And if that is what you think, how shallow you are.

So far I've made a buddy here and hope to make many more. To all of you I thank you for each day this site is here.

My sentiments...exactly! If you don't like the heat, get out of the fire! There are so many other topics. Often, I DO have to find another thread to read. But, I figure, what riles me up may not offend others and vice versa. It is great to be able to vent and ask questions of people that KNOWS the ins-and-outs of this business. That way, we don't tear into our DH's, DK's or our Chia Pet!!! LOL!!!!!!

I just wanted to say that our compliments to each other are like a smile received from a stranger on the street. They envoke a feeling of warmth and happiness in us and we then pass that smile on to someone else. If we remember to just smile at each other every day (even through words in forums or through comments in the gallery) the person we smile on will pass that smile onto someone else and so many people's day will be so much brighter.

Merry Christmas to everyone and your families and I wish you all a Safe and Happy New Year. party.gif

Yes, it's you Cakes, my buddy

Maryak,

You made me remember when I grew up in a big city. People weren't much on smiling and saying hi. It's not that they weren't friendly there is just so much hussle and bussle. When someone did smile and say Hi, I remember how good it felt.

For a short time I would realize we need to slow down and smell the flowers - it would last a moment and then right back to the hussle and bussle.

You know, sometimes we get so wrapped up in what we are doing, we do forget to, as you said, "...slow down and smell the flowers..." Thanks for bringing us back to earth. We all forget at times and we need to be reminded.

I agree with many that said that in the last few months the direction of this forum has change, I felt really sad when I PM'ed a member that was being bashed for something that she asked and she told me that she will never post again, that's very sad, I think that we are all grown ups here and sometimes take things tooooo serious or personal. Tolerance is something that we all should learn and practice, let's be more humble and keep this forum full of peace and love.

Posting a cake photo or a comment to another's cake is being part of the "family". Families fight, no doubt, but as a rule they kiss and make up. I feel CC has given me an extended family, that I chose. I can stay or leave as I wish. I have learned a great deal and have made several great friends and hope to be able to continue enjoying the family. I don't see this site as a place to post personal problems or complaints. Just my opinion! The talent and skill that are displayed on this site are amazing. I hope to enjoy it for years to come.

I like that!

I have taught my kids that Jesus lives in the heart of every person. If we treat someone badly, we are treating Jesus badly too.

Something to ponder--not just at Christmastime!

I don't think tolorance has anything to do with it.

It is just plain rude to discuss "Jesus" this is not the place. And you must be considerate of the Non-Christians.

There are two things that should not be discussed with a group that is politics and religion. That's why I said "the golden rule".

Peace

Junecakes,

I live in the village of Waltz, because we are so small our post office is New Boston. It's between Detroit, MI and Toledeo OH. When we moved here I worked in downtown Detroit and my husband worked in Toledeo OH so it was equal distance. Now, we are both retired and stuck because the housing market is so bad.

I started taking Wilton classes in Taylor, MI a bit of a drive but it was worth it. I fell in love. I have never enjoyed doing anything so much. When I'm deocrating everything else just vanaishes from my head.

I am so excited to find out that there is now a Wilton 4 class. I'm going this weekend to sign-up.
My understanding is that it goes more into gumpaste flowers which I really need help with.

Has anyone else heard of this class?

I whole heartedly agree about the religion and politics, I am perfectly comfortable debating all sorts of issues, but on this forum the minute Jesus or Dubya come up I'm gone! I am a member of several other web sommunities and in some of them the discussion of religion and politics are valid, but not on a cake decorating site. They have nothing to do with the knowledge we share, unless some of you are getting divine intervention, and with some of these pieces of art I wouldn't be surprised! So I agree no throwing Jesus, Allah, Buddah, the Goddess, Thor, Zeus, Ra, Nubis, etc etc into the mix icon_smile.gif

Janette, I'm sorry if I hurt you feelings in anyway and I respect your possition, but at the same time I think there is no reason to hide my feelings or what I want to say, I respect all the non christians; and beacuse you don't know me, you don't know that my father is jewish and my mother catholic and I'm christian and I respect all believes and IMHO I don't think I was being "rude". But if somebody felt offended by me for naming Jesus in this thread I apologize.
