I made some last week for my Halloween open house. I just used my No Fail Sugar Cookie recipe(which is on this website under recipes) and that worked fine. If you don't have the color black or orange, I could suggest using red and yellow to make orange. As for black....I'm not sure about black but you can purchase the colors at your local Wal-Mart or other store that carries cake decorating supplies.
For the black, start with chocolate in the icing - I put cocoa powder - to get it brown and then I add the black coloring - otherwise you will never get a really good black that tastes good. And to get a good dark orange color definitely use red & yellow if possible. Good luck.
