I like the white almond sour cream cake. Have you tried it. It's base is a white cake mix.

YES!! Almond Sour Cream that's it!! Thank you, I couldn't remember for the life of me! Is it very sweet? Most of my cakes are for kid's birthday's etc so the sweetness factor isn't too big of a deal, but I have been wanting to find a recipe for a yummy cake that wasn't sooo sweet.

I made that for two cakes this past weekend -- the big recipe makes 1 8x3 inch square, 1 8x3 inch round and 1 6x3 inch round cake. Everyone loved the cakes!!! Even I had a piece and liked it -- and I don't like cake (especially white cake!)

I used that for my Course I final cake this week--and yes, it is very sweet (too sweet for me).

Ok I made it today and I am making this from now on unless people have a specific request! It baked up beautifully and it tastes divine and depending on the person it is very adaptable to fillings etc such as chocolate cream cheese or strawberry filling. I didn't think it was that sweet compared to a boxed yellow cake. I love how easy it was to doctor up yet tastes scratch! Oh yes I am a convert!

I wonder if there is an equivalent using a yellow box mix (as opposed to the white box mix.) Has anyone tried??

OK...I know this defeats the purpose, but has anyone ever replaced the Almond extract with something else? Butter, lemon, etc? I do not care for almond but this sounds like a great cake to try.
