The recipe says Add three cups, then add two cups and then repeat this step 3-4 more times.... not very specific enough for someone who's never made MMF.

So, how much sugar? Is it a 2 lbs bag like the traditional MMF recipe?

I just made MMF last night and I used a 16oz bag of marshmallows and a 2lb bag of confectioners sugar. I started with 1/2 the bag and mixed it with the marshmallows then added the other 1/2 and the consistancy is perfect.

was this the alternative recipe with crisco or the traditional method? I'm asking about the recipe that uses crisco.

I guess I am not sure, I just thought this one seemed easiest. It does call for crisco for coating the bowls you are working with but thats it.

I've never seen the alternative recipe, where did you find it?

I saw it mentioned a couple times in the forums as being easier to work with and so I did a search in the recipes. I just chose fondant for category and typed alternative in the search field and up popped the recipe. It has 16 reviews and a 3.58 rating (or about), but the recipe in the ingredient section doesn't even mention sugar, but the body of the text does.

it sounds like you need 3 cups adding just 1 cup at a time and then 2 more cups on your kneading surface and then add a little more at a time until you reach your desired consistancy. It sounds like it is up to you to use your own judgement.

Thanks for the link to the recipe. I'll have to give it a try.
