My DH asked me to make a cake for hicompany Christmas dinner on sat..I have been racking my brain and all i can think of is the Polar Express...The reason that i think this would be perfect is that they do a VERY fancy detailed float for the local Christmas parades every year and this year they BUILT the Polar Express train...but i have no idea of how to go about doing this..i did a search on the net for Polar Express cakes thinking that maybe some one out there in cyber world had done this before and i came up with zip...so im asking...begging...pleading...does anyone have any suggestions on how i could go about this? The dinner is for Sat night so i dont have much time 2 and 1/2 days to get this done...if any one could help me on this i would be in debted to you for a long long time.
This is a big deal for me to be doing a cake for his work... he works for a federal prison and the potential for orders from providing a knock out cake for them could off the chart, so you can see why i am in such a panic for the "perfect" cake.

Thanks in advance to anyone who can help me out!!

Tiff

Tiff - do you have a copy of the book? What a about a chocolate transfer of one of the more familiar (and simple) images? I did that when making a cake for a Lemony Snicket fan (for a family birthday)...went to the web, found the illustrator's info, found a relatively simple drawing without too many lines/detail, and went for it. Choc transfer on the top, simpler designs for sides?

or.....If you have thw wilton train pan, or know someone who does?

Other than the P Express, what about one of those adorable cakes cc-ers have done with igloos/penguins/snowmen?

You don't have much time to design & create; but your stuff is all lovely; let us know what you decide on. Good luck!

what about an edible image??? The photos online of the polar express are so beautiful and magical looking it would be so hard to capture that in a transfer!!!

HI

I'm thinking you probably wanted to do the train, but what about the bell? It's very symbolic to the movie........just an idea that might be easier....can't wait to see what you decide!

I did a Polar Express cake this year for my son's first grade class and I also googled it and didn't come up with much. I ended up taking some ideas from some other train cakes on this site and used the Wilton choo-choo train pan. I also used a small loaf pan for a coal car, but to be authentic I should have done passenger cars with wide red stripe.

My cake wasn't overly spectacular and I certainly wasn't under as much pressure to make it special, but if you'd like to check out the picture for an idea or the other's cakes I used please feel free. I hope it can help.

Good Luck!
