Hello I was wondering if anyone could offer any advice on cake torters. Usually I just slice my cakes with a knife but sometimes its a little uneven for large cakes. I had the small one from wilton and it didn't work very well and I tossed it. Anyone know if there are any out there that work well?
Thanks
Karrie
I use 6pound fishing line to tort my cakes. All you do is make sure your fishing line can go completely around your cake. Wrap the line around your cake scoring where you want it to cut. cross the two ends of your string like an x and pull. If you do it right then you will have a nice and straight cake.

I also use the fishing line method. Mine is still on the reel and I attach the other end to a dowel (I use a clothes peg), so it gives you something to hold on to.
I then measure where I want to slice and place cocktail sticks at the height I want about 2" apart around the cake.
I unravel enough fishing line to go around the cake (holding the reel in one hand and the peg in the other). Swap hands so the line is now in a cross in front of you and the line is lying just on top of the sticks around the cake. Now just pull each hand and the line will slide through the cake on top of the sticks you placed in.
Remove the sticks and your layer of cake and you should have a nice even cut.
By the way a Very Happy Christmas to all of you and a Very Prosperous and Happy cake making new year!!
