I was reading someone's cake blog or something and she said she used parchment to line her pans then washes the parchement off, lets them dry and reuses! I like to use parchement, but I hated cutting it out. So I tried washing it off now and it seems like it will work fine! She said after she lets it dry she just stores them in the cake pan! Maybe it's not news, but it was new to me! Yea!

I always use parchment on my cakes but I have never washed and reused. I never thought of it. I bake the cake let it cool then turn cake over I leave the parchment on it until it cools completely. When Im done I throw it away. I am going to have to give that a try sounds like a money saver to me.

Unless it is for economic reasons, I don't think it's meant to be reused or washed..
If it comes in a roll, then it is disposable. I would never do it myself.

but what would be a reason for NOT reusing it? I mean I cant believe it would be harmful or anything, right? It is more about being a time saver I think for me. I just hate cutting it.

A million years ago when I sold Pampered Chef, I re-washed the little parchment circles that came with the flan pans. I must have used those babies 20 times before they finally croaked. I laugh at myself for doing that now. Life is too short to wash paper. When Hobby Lobby has Wilton stuff for 50% off, I stock up. I've got about 15 rolls of it my garage cabinet.

After a few times, it crinkles too much and almost shrinks. But absolutely reusable.

They actually sell reusable parchment. It is made of a different material. As far as reusing it I think that is gross. It is also a health code violation. Lets say you are baking bread rolls-yes you can re use the paper again after baking but not a few days later. I would thing that the parchment would absorb some of the fat ans such from the previuos bakes item. And yes it is cheap!

I've seen on the internet where you can buy parchment paper already cut for certian size pans.

Ditto! I've seen the pre cut parchment circles but I don't want to spend the money on them. I'm thinking I'll devote one day to doing nothing but cutting roll after roll of parchment paper to all different sizes.

I also hate having to cut parchment into a ring when I want to collar my pans.

I'm sorry but certain things just need to be thrown away. Even though you wash it, there seems to be a greater concern for bacteria once it's washed then if it's just used out of the box.
