Hi there! I made this cake for my DD's 1st birthday and well i really have no idea what to price it at. I got an order for it from a friends co-worker, wants one just like it for her daughters birthday. I was hoping you guys could give me some help on the pricing. Its 8, 6, 4 x 4 chocolate/vanilla inside with vanilla buttercream. Covered in fondant, decorated in fondant and the bows, #1 and flowers are gumpaste.

TIA for the help!!!

I really don't know about pricing (I made my fist cake yesterday).....but I LOVE your cake. My daughters first birthday is coming up in three weeks. Your cake has inspired me for hers. Very pretty

I'd say between 45 and 50 at cheapest considering servings and time and ingrediants that is probably low. But around here people are kinda cheap but it depends on your area too.

I see you are Fl. so maybe 55-65?

That is a lot of work. I would say around $80 with all the fondant decorations.

I would charge $60-70 for this one. There's a lot of cake and a lot of detail, so it's well worth it.

mmm... the sizes you said is for about 24 servings 2"x2"x4"-5"tall (your looks pretty tall), so what about $3-4 per slice, it looks like lots of work. OR you can also multiply your cost by 4 and add an extra fee for fondat. Hope this helps.
And I agree with Patticakes, about $80 sounds right.

karmicflower,

In my world it has 27 servings......I would charge $109 - that is $4.00 per serving, since it is all fondant and has some modeling. (But the modeling is relatively easy and there isn't any sculpting involved.....) Remember, you are creating a custom cake!

BTW you cake is very lovely!

I would charge a minimum of $100. There's a lot of specialty decorating there that isn't available elsewhere. You put a lot of time into this. Plus, it takes experience and knowledge to create a cake like this. That's worth something. And it's a beautiful cake! Very well done and I love the colors!

I'm chiming in to agree with the 80 - 100 range. When you calculate the hours it takes to make a fondant covered stacked cake, you have to make it worth your while to do it.

Your cake is fabulous.

I was going to say that I would probably charge around $70 for it, but I know it is probably worth more than that.

I would not go under $80.00 for the cake. People do not realize that cake decorating is time consuming, especially when it comes to fondat. I think I under charge people for cakes. But like it was said. People are very cheap. But I tell them go to a bakery and see what you get for that money. That cake is beautiful. You did a great job on it.

I live in Miami, FL, and i know a few bakeries around here that would charge more. I think $90 is fair price not expensive for my area. Thanks again for all the help!
