Here is a recipe. My husband normally makes the homemade bread and he is not here for me to get his recipe.
I do know that once it is risen he brushes it with a beaten egg and it give it a nice shiney crust on top.

I make homemade bread every 3 days or so (I have a sourdough starter that I keep up with!) Here is a link to the King Arthur Flour recipe for easy homemade bread. There is a TON of stuff on that site for baking. This is an easy recipe that takes you step by step!

Really, this is something to learn by seeing. See if there is a tutorial out there.
Here is the recipe I use. Plain white bread for dinner rolls or even cinnamon rolls.
Grandmas Bun Recipe
Original:
Start by adding 2 pkg regular dry yeast (not rapid) to ½ c warm water with 1 T sugar.
3 c water
¼ c butter
¼ c Crisco
Melt these together.
Add:
1 T salt
½ c + 2 T (10 T total) sugar
1 c + 2 T dry milk
5-6 oz condensed milk
Mix thoroughly.
Add:
2-3 eggs, beaten (I use 5 per double batch, but she said 2-3 ???)
Mix again.
Add yeast water.
Add flour. Recipe calls for 2.5 lbs, which was just over 6 cups. Keep adding till it is dough, not too sticky. It usually takes me about ¾ bag of regular flour plus what I use to knead.
Knead, rise to double, punch down, rise to double again.
Make your buns, cinnamon rolls, etc at this point.
*IF you want to freeze to bake later, do it here. Follow with next step when you are ready to bake. Can also put formed cinnamon rolls in the fridge at this point, and they will rise overnight and be ready to bake in the morning. This was NOT in the original, but was found through trial and error. They are just as good after freezing the dough!
Rise to double again after rolls are formed.
Bake at 350 appx 15 minutes until a nice golden brown.
Zmama;
thank you so much for the recipe. i'll try that today as well i do want to try to find a tutorial about bread but i can't find any. i'll let you know what happends. i havn't tried the other recipe yet cause i'm still doing x-mas shopping and wrapping and cleaning the house before x-mas.

This is a good site http://www.thefreshloaf.com
Thank goodness for bread machines!! Fleishmann's Yeast has a good site too.
I will PM you a recipe for basic white bread from one of my favorite books, The Bread Bible by Rose Levy Beranbaum. This bready is the perfect flavorful, yeasty accompanyment to any dinner and my husband loves it. If you find you like it, I very much recommend picking up the book. I think I paid $35 for it at the local Borders bookstore. Sometimes you just need more than a cut and dry list of ingredients with a shorthand list of instructions, and it's been very good about learning the ins and outs of breadmaking such as the different kinds of flours, the chemistry that's happening, WHY you take certain steps, etc.
