I entered this cake in the NC state fair. It was my first time ever entering in any competition. I entered in the 10-12 junior division and, I won first place and best in show!!!! icon_biggrin.gif Needless to say I was shocked.

Congrats!! It's a great cake - looks like you put a lot of work into it. I just love the giraffes - well, all the animals are really cute! Does any one else in your family decorate cakes, or are you the only one with the passion for it?

Thanks for all the compliments everyone. It took me about 8 hours to make the animals and put the styromfoam cake together.

my moms screen name is kathik and she runs a baking business at home so the cake decorating most likely runs in the family.

JanH,
no unfortunately the mare and foal are not mine they belonged to the people I used to take riding lessons from. (But I do wish they were mine icon_wink.gif )

I don't think I'll ever be good enough to be on food network. Also it's just a hobby, I don't think I'll be going into business, because I want to become a doctor.

I am so PROUD of YOU!!!!! DH and I (you met us both at the NC meeting -- we were the hosts) were at the fair yesterday and actually took a picture of YOUR cake!!! When I saw the post, I was so excited!!! It is absolutely georgous. I know you and your mom are both so happy!!!
