...anyone have much experience with this cake?

Is it a sturdy cake that will hold up to being stacked/carved? If yes, why would someone like this particular type of cake of a "regular" cake?

Genoise cake is very light and airy. I don't think it would carve well. I think a victoria sponge cake would carve better. Genoise is more used for jelly rolls and gateaus.
Pound cake is the best for carving, IMO.
