Hi all, im making a football cake and the sheetcake that it will sit on is chocolate /choc then the football is going to be a Yellow cake, what icing flavor would you suggest since the sheet cake is all Chocolate,
Thanks need this by next Thursday Oh do you all dowel this since the football will be sitting on top of the cake will transport twice in one day.
I can't give you any advice on flavors, since there are SO many out there, and it really depends on the crown you are serving the cake to. Your best bet would be to go to "recipies" and do a search for buttercream.
In regards to the dowel, I personally would use two or more depending on the size of the cake. If it will be transported twice in one day, this will make sure it stays put.
Good luck!
Oops. I meant "crowd"
Thanks its for a 16yr old boy and i really thinking butter rum icing, dont know yet, its the wilton football cake its a big one and the sheet cake is 11x15 wont have much room only about 1in on each end of sheet cake, i would torte the football but im thinking not.

Yeah, I would definitely use more than two dowels!
Torting that cake would most likely compromise the stability. If it's for friends and/or family and I decide not to torte, I usually bring extra icing or filling that people can add if they wish. ![]()
