I am still so excited that my son got married...it was a beautiful wedding and I don't think I have ever been as proud. My other son was the best man and Erin my DIL (the pink cake in my avatar was for her shower) looked exquisite in her wedding dress.
I made the wedding cake and it was the reason I took up cake decorating in the first place...they loved it to pieces but they would love anything I made.
It was spice cake from Cakes by design (Scott Clarke Wooley) and the inside was SMBC flavoured with Grand Marnier, cinnamon, and orange and the simple syrup that went on the cake was the same. I have to say that the cake was delicious and I highly recommend that recipe...moist, great to stack and cut.
It was covered in white chocolate fondant and I made over 24 gumpaste roses for the topper as well as pearl branches on gold wire and the tulle picks as well...
I think my piping could have been better and the picture I posted was taken at home before my DH delivered it to the National Arts Center where the reception was..(I was at the pictures)...it was a very tight timeline when they would let you deliver stuff...
So the roses that were on the various layers weren't on yet so it looks a bit plain...
The topper exactly matched the bouquets and the colour was perfect..I matched the RI perfectly to the fondant by using ivory and a touch of golden yellow because it was very creamy in colour.
Thanks so much for letting me ramble on like this....I think I have bored all my friends to death talking non-stop about the wedding...hahahahaha
They looked so very happy...it was one of my happiest and proudest moments...I single handedly kept Kleenex in business..hahahah
