This is my first character cake. I picked this one to practice the stars for course one. It didn't turn out quite like I wanted it too but still thought it was cute. All course one buttercream.

She is very cute! Did you get the star tip with 3 stars? I didn't know it existed until after I killed my wrist on a large cake covered in stars!

Very nice job!

Tincanbaby -

This cake is very nice for a first effort. Glad to hear that you are practicing - many people do not bother once they learn a skill. Practice leads to perfection.

Thanks everyone, I am taking the courses because I don't know this stuff!! I hope all this practice pays off.
I have the 3 star tip but the teacher will not let us use it yet.
I have already signed up for course 2 in Jan to be followed by course 3 Feb along with the gumpaste/fondant classes.
Maybe by that time, I may have figured this out. LOL

Very nicely done! I am doing a bunch for friends this week to give me practice on the star tip too! I will be starting the wiltons class in Jan! May I ask you how long it took you to do that? Mine take me about two hours if I don't have kids to tend too!

This little sucker took me 1/2 day! I would start it , stop to do something else, than go back to it. Those little stars are not easy when you want it to look good. They ended up all different sizes....lol chuckle, chuckle. Maybe next time. Guess I should add some pretzels or candy canes for arms. First, I gotta find somebody to eat it!
