I have a request for white chocolate buttercream. I was wondering if anyone out there has a good recipe for it. I check in the recipe section here, there were 2 recipes. I just wanted to check with everyone to see what I could come up with. Thanks!

I usually just add about a cup of melted white chocolate to my batch of buttercream...works great for me...there is also a recipe with the raspberry white chocolate cake recipe...but to keep it simple I just add chocolate to the regular buttercream....

I use "my buttercream recipe" and follow it just like it says up until the end. I mix up a whole box of white chocolate pudding mix and add that to the butter, sugar, etc. mixture instead of the liquid. It's weird how two things that are the same consistency mixed together get thinner once I do that ... It doesn't taste very white chocolatey, but it is sooooo yummy. I used it on a chocolate cake and ohhhh I loved it. If you wanted it to be white chocolatier you could do like ericaann said and add some melted white chocolate to it. Just MAKE SURE the chocolate is room temperature before you add it to the icing or it will cool too quickly and you'll have clumps of white chocolate in your icing.

Oh, I forgot to say I got the idea off of CC .. Not sure who did this to start with, but she just added the pudding straight to the icing but I was scared it would be gritty so I mixed it with milk first.

Adding the white chocolate sounds good. Could we get more detailed step by step instructions on how to do it? I'm going to have to try this tomorrow!

I use the crusting buttercream frosting recipe found on cc. I add 4 to 6 oz of melted white chocolate (get mine at Trader Joe's) that has cooled down after the frosting has mixed a bit. I also use half butter and half shortening, no almond flavor, just vanilla and about 1/2 tsp of salt dissolved in the water. It comes out really good, not too sweet and easy to spread. Hope this helps

I have also added melted white chocolate to SMBC (Martha Stewart's recipe), both my Valentine cakes in my gallery were frosted in this. I doesn't crust tho' but it is delicious.
