can i make just plain old royal icing to frost my cookies? or do i have to add lemon juice or something else to it? i looked at both recipes on here and they both add something that i don't have... just wondering what will work best? i'll be doing christmas cookies with a few different colors... thanks!

Ditto. You can also add some clear vanilla for a little nicer flavor.
