Paramount Crystals are shredded Paraffin Wax.  I took candy making many years ago (in the 80's) and our instructor told us to use the Paraffin Wax if we couldn't find Paramount Crystals.  Just shred some and throw a little at a time into your chocolate.  It sure is a lot less expensive.  Good luck!  Hope this helps.

This is not correct. The ingredients in Paramount crystals are hydrogenated palm kernel oil and lecithin.

Also this thread is from 2006.

Also buckeyes are da bomb.

Exactly.

As a matter of fact, paraffin is no longer the "gold standard" for adding to chocolate because paramount crystals ARE available.

It's another case of "know better, do better."
