First of all, I can't make cookies to save my life, but I try. I decorated these yesterday, let them dry, then looked this afternoon and they are rather frightening. Looks like they are the stars of a winter horror flick!!! :cry icon_cry.gif :

Even the ivory scarves faded. What happened????

I am no expert but it looks like your colors ran/faded. That happened to me before. What kind of icing did you use?

Did you let them dry well before adding details?

That may be the culprit ? Sorry this happened to you icon_sad.gif

Your icings bled into one another. Did you use a confectioner's glaze or royal icing? It looks to me like you may have used a glaze, so my suggestion is to separate the colors with a thin line of royal icing, and also add the details (the buttons) with royal icing. I find that glaze does not bleed with royal icing. For example, you would pipe a black line of royal icing (tip #1 or #2) where the snowman's head meets his hat. Let it set up for about 10 minutes (just until crusty on the outside) and then use your glaze to fill in the black and white sections. Good luck.

Looks like Frosty wasn't dry before he got his dapper accessories! I've never had a problem with confectioner's glaze, even without RI separators, but I am incredibly, astonishingly anal about waiting for one color to dry before adding the next.

It looks like your glaze might have been a bit loose to start with, too.

And also, black is notorious for going places it doesn't belong, even when you do exactly what you're supposed to, so maybe you will need that RI line. Or Frosty can wear a different color this season. icon_wink.gif
