Baking a 12x18 sheet cake. Do I need to use a baking cone for that size? What size of pan do you usually use the cone with? Typically how long would it take to bake? I was not successful with the search, may not be using the correct wording. Appreciate your quick response, need to deliver cake this Wed.
BTW this is my first cake order, finish Course 3 Saturday. I've baked breads and pies etc for years and sold them at the Farmers Market, no big deal! But having my first official cake order has me a nervous wreak.
Thanks in advance. Catherine
Probably the word you needed was baking core.
I think I would put at least two flower nails in your cake instead of using the core. Grease the nails like you do your pans, put it flat down and pour your batter around them. (In case you haven't tried that one either.) When your cake is baked the flower nail only leaves a small hole in the cake and is easily removed. HTH Janice
Good luck with that first special cake! Be sure to post photos!
Thank you for your quick response, while I was waiting around the forum stopped by articles and caught a topic on undercooked cake, found the term you mentioned and did a search. I was going to post the question about using nails since the cake is rectangular and not equal distance from center if the nails would work. Now if someone could help with approximate time, I was think 50 minutes, your opinion please.
Once I figure out how to download my pictures from my camera, I'll get some posted.
