I've never used luster dust, but finally have a chance to. My college refund comes this week (No more mac & cheese!!!!! I have money for real food) so next week, I'm SHOPPING!

Where should I buy luster/sparkle/petal dust? What brand? What colors are good for a beginner?

What else do I "need/want" to buy for baking? Right now, I have a 6x2, 8x3, (2) 10x2, and an 11x15. I have most tips, and about 12 wilton colors (switching to Americolor when these one's run out). I have a wilton wire leveler, and the rotating cake stand that is flat on the table (I just put it on a can of shortening for height). So, what do I need to buy? I'm budgeting $250 on my cake shopping spree (I know, not a lot, but still).

THANKS

I think gold and silver pearl or luster dust is a good place to start. I actually like Wilton's pearl dust just fine. I also love my white Americolor color- it's great for when I made my icing too dark.

Hopefully someone else will have more suggestions. Have fun shopping!
