I made a simple fbctf and I peeled it off of the waxed paper and notice that you can see squiggle lines where I filled the areas in with the color. Do you need to use a thin consistancy icing to fill the shape in, I was afraid that it would be hard to transfer if I did not use a stiff consisitancy, I am just experiencing so if any body knows for last time please let me know,,,Thanks,
Yes, it should be thin. I outline in a medium or stiff and fill with a fairly thin consistency. But, I also use clear celophane (instead of wax paper) and plexiglass so that after I outline, I can remove the image and then do my fill-in and see what I am doing (lifting the image above my head a bit to see if I have squiggles--don't flip it over--the icing will fall!
) If there are squiggles or airbubbles, I take a toothpick and swirl it around in the icing until they go away. Someone has also suggested using a paintbrush and that works great too.
I just made my first one and I thought I had a thin consistancy and I had squiggle lines in it too. I am now thinking it needs to be a flow consistancy. I'm no expert though.
Even with a fairly thin consistency, there will always be some lines. You don't want to bring BC icing down to a "flow" consistency because the icing actually starts to break down if too much water is added--it looks really waxy. Yup, tried it myself! ![]()
