here is a link on how to make blown sugar bubbles. I've never tried them but they look very neat on a cake.

That is a GREAT cake! Are the bubbles blown sugar? I've never done that, but would be willing to try it out.

Thanks for this link! If I can find the supplies to do it, I may try this out next week after Christmas is past. I think it would be great to know how to do this!

Maryann - Cute cake! Thanks for sharing that. I think the sugar blowing directions posted above are yours...right? I can't find the Isomalt online. The sweetc link doesn't show it as one of their products. Is there another source that you use? Also, what kind of pump do you use to actually blow the sugar? Someone mentioned a blood pressure pump, but I would think you'd need some tubing as well??? Am I totally off base?

I won't be making this cake until the end of Jan. and am off from my "real job" next week, so I'd like to take advantage of the time to try to learn to blow sugar bubbles!!!

Thanks for your help!

Hi There I did post the sugar bubble link. I don't fololw the rules!
You need to call sweet celebrations. They show the isomalt in there catalog. You can just use sugar also. I doun't because I work with isomalt. I am by no means an expert and still learning myself.
I do not use a blood pressure pump. I use a sports ball pump and it is a bit harder to control the bubble with this. I have made hundreds and very used to it.
It is fun once you get the hang of it but is serious because of the hot sugar.
