I just made a batch of cake release using zero trans fat crisco for the first time. Am crazy or does it not actually release the cake anymore? I fell in love with homemade cake release and could not believe how beautiful my cakes came out. Not a crumb on them. Well today I've had three unsuccessful releases with the new ztf crisco. Anyone have thiis problem, too? Any advice?

I thought it was just me.... I didn't attribute it to the new Crisco, but I did notice that my pan smear made the outside of my cakes crumby and sticking to the pan recently. I went back to Baker's Joy last week.

I do it the old fashinoned way, crisco on a paper towel and then flour. I haven't had any trouble so far. Sorry that you have. Maybe try it the old way and see what happens

I had a cake stick for the first time in years...I have noticed they don't come out as claenly as usual....I never even thought about the crisco till now. icon_confused.gif

although, I have to admit, I haven't had any of the problems that others have had when using it in frostings.
