My cousin wants me to make a cake for her co-worker. They are elementry school teachers. I am making a 9x13 half white, half chocolate. She said to do whatever I wanted. Should I do a Holiday theme or something else? I am still "new" to decorating so something easy would be great. Plus how much would you charge for this cake? I have never charged for a cake, I just do them for family for free? I was thinking maybe $15-$20 dollars? I would appreciate any ideas and help. Thank You!!

Maybe a winter theme, like snowflakes or snowmen? I think I would charge $20, though everybody tells me I undercharge. (I try to stay within reason of what local bakeries charge.)

You could incorporate winter and school- like snowmen reading books, or snowmen holding teachers' gifts, like an apple, a "you're my favorite teacher" ornament, pencil and tablet...

you could do a chalkboard cake that says "Happy Holidays" in (frosting) chalk. you could add a few holly leaves and berries to the corners of the chalkboard.

there are some chalkboard cakes in the galleries. check them out. i'm sure you could use buttercream if you don't feel comfortable using fondant just yet.

good luck thumbs_up.gif

Last month I was asked to do a cake for a teacher, a fisherman and a tennis player..... (3-in-1 cake in my photos).
What if you make the cake look like the open book cake pan and have each page showing the 2 teachers favorite hobbies, activities, etc. I would incorporate the holiday season around the edge/sides of the cake.
