I just got my first batch of pettinice and chocolate pettenice! I will never makes MMF again! It's just too much of a pain when doing large wedding cakes. It was truly a joy to open the bucket and pull out how much I needed! icon_biggrin.gif As a side note... the chocolate is so yummy!

The white is pretty good too... worlds better than the wilton. It's sweet, but not too much.

Thanks for your speedy response; how do you compare it to Satin Ice?

Now your talking, I will never make homemade fondant again either. Thinking you can save some money isn't worth the amount of times the fondant doesn't turn out perfectly. I like Pettinice too, my personal favorite is Fondx, but any premade fondant with raves from other cake decorators is a good place to start.

its better than mmf in so many ways i think.

ease of use for one..
the finished look is better as far as i am concerned...

commercial fondant is what i have been using from the get go anyway so i am biased.

I just made another cake using my pettinice. I'm in Heaven! It is just so much more consistent then making MMF. icon_biggrin.gif

I love the Pettinice as well. I live in Canada, so I have to order it from the states, but there is some McCalls stuff that is pretty good too. One major thing that I noticed about premade fondant....it is way easier to knead in colour than MMF. I don't know why. I had some Wilton stuff that I was using for figurines, and it must have taken me less than 5 minutes to get it all blended it, where as sometimes I'm kneading MMF for 1/2 an hour!

I love making the fondant for small cakes 10-8-6. But for anything bigger I buy FONX now. I know David at the Caljava store. I got to taste it when he put it on his shelves.

And what about price wise? Since it is more expensive did you rise your prices? How will you compensate the extra expense? Just curious!
Thanks!

Oh, I'm green with envy. They don't even know what fondant is here, let alone sell it. Off to make more MMF. icon_cry.gif

I charge 1 or 2 dollars more than the BC price here. Some will pay, but most won't. So mostly BC, though for family gatherings I will use fondx for the bigger cakes just to get them used to it. No compliants from them. They love the look it gives the cakes.

HOw long does stored pre-made fondant last? I also don't like the inconsistency of MMF, but I don't use fondant for too many things. Mainly accents. So how fast does this stuff dry out? MMF never seems to last very long for me, even though I wrap and store it like you're supposed to.
