I just wanted to try and see how the stand up cakes worked so I bought the mini bear. Well I did up the pound cake recipe and baked it, over filled the mold! I went to decorate it and it doesn't even look like a bear! Can anyone give me any pointers on how to decoreate the stand up bear and it still look like a bear? I am so embrassed of it I don't even want to take a picture of it! And won't! So any pointers?
How did you decorate it? Did you use the star tip? I made a stand up (3-D) Pooh cake and I used the star tip to make it. Doing that made it still look like pooh. You can see it in my pictures for reference. Try again...you'll get it.
I am totally new at this whole cake decorating thing and I am LOVIN it! I used the star tip but it just didn't have the defintion that it should have! It looked like to me was a white hunk of icing kinda looking like a bear. It also could be that I wasn't really putting my heart into it either, just something new to try and well I guess that is what I get for NOT putting my heart into it! I would have posted a pic but it was so bad looking that I didn't bother! I gave it to my mom and she did take a pic I will see if I can get her to email it to me!
Don't worry about it. I'm still pretty new to the decorating thing myself. Even the best cake decorators here had to start somewhere. I'm sure they had some pretty bad cakes when they first started. I know my first cake was absolutley horrible. It looked like a 4 year old decorated it. It just takes practice.
