I'm making gingerbread men and want to put sticks in them to put them in the top of a cake. The sticks I got are labeled as candy sticks, will those work? I assume you just put the sticks in before you bake them but wanted to make sure they wouldn't scorch/burn or something. Thanks!

Yes, the candy sticks (white/paper type) work fine. I always buy the very long ones if I'm putting then into a cake, because they always sink down farther than I think they will. Good luck!!!!

You can also glue the lollipop sticks onto the backs of the cookies with white chocolate. I've done this successfully with very large, very heavy cookies.

The candy sticks will definitley work! If the stick looks like it is ready to poke through, just patch the back with more dough! I've made some, and when I went to lift them, the stick came right through the back!

Trial and Error!!! icon_rolleyes.gif

I also made cookie lollipops this weekend...I glued the candy stick on with candy melts...they are glued on solid!!! I put them in the freezer for no more than 5 minutes to firm them up but in fact they would do fine just leaving them out. My cookies were largish snowflakes and they were not too heavy for the stick or the glue.

Cheers,
Jane
