Hi all, I have been asked to do a wedding cake - my first ever. The bride has requested a small loopy fondant bow to be ontop of the cake. I have never made one before and was wondering how I go about doing it.
What size strips, how many, what thickness, width, length etc. How many layers, how do I hold it all together?
I am only new to cake decorating so dont have many instruments yet have the basics. All help or tips would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks all
Angela
Maybe this will help:

There's actually a step missing from the instructions in the link.
Step 3 (after the pasta machine picture) reads: "I then use a strip cutter to cut about 30 strips from the dough. The pieces should be about 1 inch wide and length will depend on the size needed for your bow. I take the pan width and divide by 2 and then add one inch and that should be the length of the strips. Example: bow for the top of a 6-inch pan = (6/2)+1 = 4 inch long strips."
thank you so much for your help both Ishi and Diane. I promise to post pics when it is finished.
Mind you - she doesnt want it looking like a wedding cake, rather a large birthday cake as it is a backyard wedding, no bridal party, no flowers, no music or dinner as such, just a bbq with immediate family and friends - in total 30 people. Mind you she has requested 14" square cake!!!
