Where are you from? Will the power cord work in your outlets there? I know some military friends who have had to buy all new appliances when they transfered overseas. Just something to think about. HTH

Yep take under consideration the power and the outlets. I personally have a 400W bowl lift KA and got it from eBay, paid $185 and reatils for like $360. I know some sellers ship overseas, just something to think about. If your friend goes shopping here, I know Walmart has the artisan for under $200. HTH and good luck.

I, just today, bought the Kitchen Aid Pro 600 at Sur La Table. It was $399.95 plus tax, but KA is having a Holiday Promo where you get $50 Mail-in Rebate. I haven't yet used it, but it looks like it's going to have been my best investment in The Addiction. HTH.

If you e-mail them, they will list the Pro 400.

LOL. We call them "beauties", how amusing. The rest of the world would look at us like maniacs.

It was well-worth the price! And I thought I wouldn't like it because it's a bowl lift, but I think I like the bowl lift even better!

Williams Sonoma has good deals sometimes. I got my Pro for $299 plus free extra bowl this fall. It was an in-store special, but check online for them as well.

I went to Kohls the other day and they had a great price on the KA professional 600 and that was the best I have seen it anywhere but not sure if you can still get it for that price. And by the way the Walmart one is a classic not an artisan well at least the one by my house anyways. I got my classic there for a little under 200 and it works great. I love it but if you do really big jobs spend that extra dollar and get the bigger one.
