Have you ever felt like your cakes are boring?? I mainly do Birthday cakes for family and friends. I know that my cakes are simple and don't have much detail. I envision this neat beautiful cake that I want to do and then when it comes down to it I put it off until the last minute and then make them the same way every time. Granted, I make what is requested (ie: "pink with some flowers" or "picture of so and so" and the classic "whatever you want is fine") I do like clean, crisp looking cakes. Nobody likes fondant so that limits alot of details. I keep getting at least 1 cake request a week and am flattered but I really think I'm either "burned out" or a very dull non creative decorator.
Sorry, for the pity party!!! Had to talk to someone who understands ![]()
DH and DD just don't get it ![]()

I know in doing this for almost 30 years....I have gone through allot of dull times when you just need to try to do something new to add some zip to your cakes. By checking out the internet....CC and other cake sites....you can really get some new ideas. We all go through creative blocks....but when you begin to get more and more orders....soon you are just trying to keep up and do what your customers want. I love to come up with something different or try changing the borders....use different colors together, etc. Hopefully this time will pass soon and you'll be recharged and ready to go again. Good luck with your decorating.
