I am making a 3d bear for Christmas dinner tomorrow using the 3d Wilton pan. Does anyone have a good durable recipe to use for this. The one i used yesterday for the trial run did not turn out very good. And does anyone have any experience making this cake. thanks in advance

I just uses my usual doctored mix. I start with Duncan Hines mix then add 1 pkg pudding mix, an extra egg, and milk instead of water.

I don't use the heating core with the pan. I find it's too much trouble. It's hard for me to get the cake out of the core and into the bear. I just use the cake mix extender recipe here on this site to make an extra cup or so of batter to be sure the cake rises all the way into the bear's feet.

ok, stupid questions, what temp do you cook your bear at and for how long also do you bake him upside down? I just made another bear and catastrophe again. I am going to try your recipe next. At least the kids are enjoying all the cake they are getting to eat. What is the cake extender recipe? I am so glad i tried this before tomorrow. Thanks again for the help, tina

Well, I hope you got it yesterday! Sorry I didn't respond - wasn't online yesterday.

If you havent got it down yet, I bake it according to the directions. Don't remember if it's 325 or 350 and can't get to the box right now to look it up.

Yes, you bake him on his head. Use the clips that come with the pan to clip the 2 halves together, then stand him on his head to fill/bake.

Cant wait to see pics!
