Hello, all I want to first say that the cakes here are amazing! I recently started doing cakes for fun! Well I had some left over cake batter that I put in a pyrex bowl and baked it up! You can see the cake I am talking about in my photos bc I haven't figured out how to put a pic in! Than I frosted it with some left over red and green frosting. I make my own BC icing but I use Wiltons color paste. My husband keeps telling me that the red taste very bitter. I have not tasted this. I know I have seen the "no taste red" does that really make a difference? any suggestions please?

Yes, the Wilton no-taste red is awesome. It does take a LOT to get a deep red color (example, last year I used two bottles of the stuff for one batch of royal icing for deep red poinsettas.) My neighbor didn't know of the no-taste red and used a large amount of another red color and ultimately ruined her cookie dough (trying to make candy cane cookies.) Hope that helps some!! Good luck! icon_smile.gif

It definitely made a difference to me before I started using the no taste red....but I guess it's different for everyone - You can also use cherry kool-aid or similar drink mix so you don't have to use quite as much red paste. I've also been told the red powder eliminates the bitterness b/c you only use a little bit.

good luck!

Thank you all! I will give the no taste a shot and see what he says, since he is the only one complaining of the bitter taste!

Silvercat--
Go with Americolor. You get true color with no taste change. It is available thru Cake Central. Fast shipping, too.

I only use Wilton as a back-up or for the kid's cake decorating parties that I do.
