I decided to try the Wilton fondant recipe today so I got all of the ingrediants, including the Wilton glucose. I looked at the ingrediants on the glucose container and all it said was corn syrup!!! WHAT!!!

I purchased that little container for $3.99 when I could have used plain old corn syrup!?! icon_mad.gif

Is there a difference between the Wilton glucose and corn syrup?

The price? icon_wink.gif Hopefully you have saved some one else from being duped, though.
How did the fondant turn out?

Thanks for asking, the fondant did not turn out well. I have a hard time making fondant. I think I added to much sugar. I am really frustrated with making fondant. I have been using mmf but that doesn't always turn out great. I am just super frustrated.

I can purchase Satin Ice but it is just so much cheaper to make your own. I would prefer to use homemade fondant on cakes for family and save my SI for paid cakes.

I totally agree about making your own. Have you tried Toba Garrett's fondant? It is the one I swear by, now!
When I make the recipe, I find I use 1-2 cups more sugar than the recipe calls for. I like it with just a little bit of tack to it. And I can color it when I make it, which saves on muscle!
I still want to try Michelle Foster's Delicious Fondant, too.
When I get home, I will look into my files. I remember a recipe for fondant that a woman made in her food processor. Forgot about that one! I want to try that one, too.

I have tried Toba Garrett's fondant and believe it or not, I messed that up to. I did end up saving the fondant in the end and used it on a couple of things. I am just HORRIBLE at making fondant. I need a fool proof recipe! The mmf seems to stretchy and doesn't always cover well. Maybe I just don't know what I am doing. icon_confused.gif

This is a recipe that a kind soul emailed to me 8 years ago, and I still haven't tried it. icon_redface.gif
It is a recipe adapted from The Cake Bible.

Blend together in a bowl:
*1 tbsp unflavored gelatin that has been dissolved in 3 tbsp hot water, and microwaved for one minute.
*1/2 cup corn syrup
*1 tbsp glycerin
*1-2 tsp flavoring
2 tbsp crisco

Stir until melted.

Put 8 cups of powdered sugar in a food processor, start processor and begin pouring liquids in. Process until mixture becomes a ball mass. Take out and knead on a surface sprayed with Pam.

Maybe you will get good results with this one? Don't give up!

also 2yummy.. I have found that if I am constantly covering my hands in shortening then kneading it I can keep my fondant from becoming too dry.
