Can you tell I don't like wine? Ask me beer... icon_rolleyes.gif

Anyway, I've been commissioned icon_lol.gif to make a drunk accountant passed out at his desk with a bottle of red wine. I thought green? She mentioned brown. Anyone know?

I think they are usually green. I don't think i have ever seen a brown wine bottle. But then again, i pick my wines by the picture on the bottle icon_smile.gif

I too am not a big wine fan, however my husband is and likes red wine. His bottles are an dark olive green color, and then sometimes a dark tan color. I am not sure if the color is significant??? I too if left to my own means to pick him out a wine, will always choose by the lable. If it looks unique I will buy it icon_lol.gif

Its a dark green because they dont want the light to get to the wine because it does something to the tanans in it.
When I did my wine bottle I used a moss green and then a spray edible laquer on it and it was perfect. Everyone that saw it thought it was real!
And if you do an edible image, you can print out labels. Then for the cap I used gold leaf to make it look like the cork was sealed.

Judging from the bottle here on the desk next to me....

LOL LOL!!

Just kidding! I actually hate wine (more of a Mike's fan), but DH loves it. The bottles are indeed dark green. Occasionally some wines are in a dark amber/brown color, but green is definitely the "right" color to use.

Yes the bottles are dark green... but if you're making a full bottle of wine, I'd color it with a burgandy/brown gel paste mix. See my pics for 2 red wine bottles I've made. While full bottles of red wine never EVER last in my house, I can tell you that if you make it green it will look more like a beer bottle. heiniken probably. icon_smile.gif

LOL you guys are too funny! i spoke to her again today and she wants a brown bottle. I would've bet money it should be green too!

thanks weirkd, I knew white was in a clear bottle, but didn't know why red wasn't!

It's going to be small, out of fondant, like an inch or so to be next to the fondant accountant LOL! i swear I get the strangest cake requests!!!
