i know it calls for using a pound cake for the 3d bear pan, but has anyone had any luck with just using a yellow DH box mix, without making it into a pound cake?

I have only made one bear cake so far (hope to do another one for Halloween icon_lol.gif )...
I used the 3D and sulpted cake recipe on this site (box mix plus pudding, etc)

I've never made it with anything but straight box mix, no add ins, in either chocolate, marble or yellow.

I use the Duncan Hines pound cake recipe for all of my cakes. I find that it works especially well with the Wilton 3D pans like the bear and duck.

1 pkg Duncan Hines® Moist Deluxe® Classic Yellow Cake Mix (or any other DH Mix)
1 (3.4 oz) pkg vanilla instant pudding and pie filling (or any other instant pudding flavor that compliments the flavor of the cake mix used)
4 large eggs
1 cup water
1/3 cup vegetable oil

I've never been let down by this recipe.

I just make my second bear cake today, and I just add the cake mix extender recipe (on this site) to my box mix. It works great and tastes wonderful!
