I gave in and bought two silpat's this year - icon_surprised.gif what an amazing difference! Who knew that it could be soo much easier (and cheaper) than the miles of parchment paper that I use each year!

Thanks for the great advise I always get on this site!

What exactly is that?

Silpat is a mat that you put on the cookie sheet and NOTHING sticks to it! It requires no greasing and clean up is simply running it under water. It is sooo much easier than lining each cookie sheet with parchment!

I got my two on ebay for $28.00 total worth every penny thumbs_up.gif

I am sure that there are many other uses for it too - I have read that some use it for fondant?

Have not tried that one yet.....

Aren't they the greatest invention? Now you will want to invest in the Roul Pat mat, same as the Silpat but a much larger size. Great for rolling out fondant for large cakes.

Some silicone mats are not Silpat, and not for use in the oven. Read carefully! I bought an imitation, and it is only good to 230 degrees F. I used it for my fondant pieces though, and it was amazing! No extra sugar or Crisco to mess with the texture.

I did not know that zmama! I thought that they were all OK. I did buy the silpat brand so these should be OK.

Yep, those are fine. It's the off brands to look at!
