Am I the only one who is getting totally excited about making Christmas cookies? I'm online now figuring out everything I need to purchase and exactly what designs I want to make with what colors and cutters and dusts and sprinkles ...blah blah blah! I'm so very excited! I haven't even make my Halloween cookies yet and I'm already mentally on Christmas cookies! You know what got me in the mood? I just received Fancy Flours new holiday catalog and the cookies on the front cover are beautiful! I guess this is what we cookie decorators live for huh?

I'm focused on Christmas cookies, too. I went on a shopping binge last year, picking up tons of Christmas containers when they were 75% off! I have a whole cupboard of those things just waiting to be filledl with cookies. Now I just have to figure out who to give them all to!

LOL! I too also bought tin's, tray's, basket's ,containers and cookie treat bag's etc. on clearance last year. I have some really nicel cookie cutters I bought last year and my sister sent me some beautiful copper cookie cutters also. I have been stocking up on flavorings, sprinkles, sugar, corn syrup etc...when it goes on sale I buy it. I just bought a lot of 5# bag's of sugar for only $1.19 a bag, 32 oz. bottles of light corn syrup for only $1.00 each. Also bag's of Reese's milk chocolate filled with peanut butter premier baking pieces (8 oz.) for only $1.00 each. Yesterday was my day off from work so I browsed the stores looking for bargains and getting ideas for my Christmas Baking Extravaganza. Also the dollar store has some pretty blue plates with snowflakes on them and matching bowls that are adorable. I take the bowl and turn it upside down, put some strong clear glue adhesive on the top then put the plate on top and let set till dry...Waalaa...a really pretty cake/cookie plate with pedestal. Hmmm. My mind keeps churning with ideas. LOL

You're stressing me!!!!! I have Halloween, Thanskgiving,Christmas and Hannukah cookies swimming in my brain LOL! Plus, my SIL wants soccer cookies for each of her daughter's teams - they won the championship (that's a whole other story - I can't charge her for the cookies - maybe I'll be getting a Dunkin' Donuts gift card for my services??? hope so). I didn't buy too much last year on clearance but I am seeing lots out there already. Just went to AC Moore and Michaels. They have a lot. The dollar stores are the best! I think I like the xmas cookies the best. Now I am going to go look in my basement for all my holiday cutters. (thanks - like I don't have enough to do today!) icon_smile.gif

That's funny! I just cleaned out my closet to pull out my fall decorations and found a big stack of cookie tins I forgot about! I got them @ Walmart on clearance last year for like 75 cents! I also found gingerbread house kits and gingerbread cookie kits that I got a deal on for the kiddos. Gotta love post-season clearance!! icon_lol.gif

Yes, I am excited also! I love doing Christmas cookies now that I can somewhat decorate them.

I also got inspired by the Fancy Flour catalog, they sent me 2 for some reason.

Plus I am motivated, my DH's work is having a Christmas cookie contest Dec 11. I really want to win it for him(He will be helping). Any suggestions on what shapes to do?

I just have to finish canning 2 more bushels of apple pie filling first!

I have been thinking about Christmas for awhile now-I feel as if I am behind because I haven't done any samples yet...Maybe this thread will give me some motivation. I have been bogged down doing soccer, soccer and more soccer! I need something fresh and new!

Ginnycakes3 - that's a really great idea about the christmas plates/mugs! I just did a wedding where my cakes were the centerpieces and they used clear glass plates and sundae cups. It was cute. And yet, I hadn't thought of doing the Christmas plates and mugs...and our dollar store always has really cute ones. One question, though...what type of glue do you use? Thanks. Jodie
