Can I Use Pictures Of Cakes I Did'nt Make?

I am making a cake for my SIL best friend and she wants to see pictures of cakes. I don't have any pictures of the type of cake she wants, that I've made myself. I told her I would draw her some designs but she really wants to see actual photos, is it ok to show her pics of other peoples cakes if I tell her I did not make them and I cannot take credit for their work? I don't want to step on anyones toes but I also can't make a bunch of cakes just to takes pictures of them either. ![]()
I don't believe there's any problem with showing someone pictures of cakes made by others, as long as you don't pretend they're yours. I've even suggested that friends browse on boards like this one to look for ideas or design elements they like, which I can incorporate into their cake.

ok thats what I was thinking, I just wanted to see what others thought. Thanks for yall's response!
I had a bride browse through CC and she picked a cake from here. I pm'ed the poster and asked her permission to recreate it. She was flattered that someone liked her cake well enough to want to copy it and she thanked me for asking. The wedding is November 10th. I will be posting it as soon as possible and crediting the original creator in my post.

I, too, have told people who want cakes to look on CC for ideas. The upside is, there are so many awesome cakes to get inspired!
The downside is, they see all the super incredible ones that I can't possibly do
and then I have to say "yes, that one is awesome, now let's discuss what I can actually do". ![]()

The funny thing is that a lot of people browse here and we don't know it.
As often as some rant about their bridezilla issues here I can't help but wonder how many brides have seen themselves being discussed on here while viewing the forums searching for pictures.
