We're attending a dinner tomorrow night at a friend's house and I would like to bring a cake (of course!), but have no clue what would go with white chili.

My hubby wants me to make a red velvet cake, but that doesn't seem right to me. So, I'm looking for opinions! icon_smile.gif

not sure it really matters. it isn't like they would be served together. make what you want and what you think they would like.

A big slice of beautiful red velvet sitting next to some chili is actually a pretty interesting visual icon_lol.gif
I'm with jmt714 make something you like, maybe something homey and rustic... maybe German Chocolate cake that's an unfussy dessert.

Thanks! I just didn't want to serve something that wouldn't be pleasing to the palet after eating white chili. Sounds silly, but some foods just aren't a good match.

Appreciate everyone's responses. My hubby loves red velvet, so I'll go that route for him. icon_biggrin.gif

There are probably a lot of variances in how it's prepared, but the recipes I've seen call for white beans and chicken. Some have mushrooms and green peppers too. Sounds wonderful!

hmm. sounds more like "Green chili" cept with the navy beans, interesting. I dunno maybe a three milks cake would be good. but red velvet sounds good too.

For my own tastes I would make something with a cinnamon flavoring.
Maybe a cream cheese frosting?
Or maybe a strawberry or raspberry cake?
